5. Exercise of the Month: The 30-sec Sit to Stand Test

Previously featured on our Instagram and Facebook page, give this test a go! We use this to assess lower body strength and endurance as overall functional capacity.

Here's how to do it: ⁣

▪️ Use a chair with seat height of 17 inches (43.2 cm) and place ⁣against a wall to prevent it from moving.⁣

▪️ Start seated in the middle of the chair with back straight and feet approximately a shoulder width apart. ⁣

▪️ Practice a repetition or two before completing the test.⁣

▪️ No assistance from the arms is allowed. ⁣

▪️ When ready, start the timer for 30-seconds

▪️ The score is the total number of stands within 30-seconds

▪️ Incorrectly executed stands are not counted (ie; using assistance from hands, not touching chair between reps, not standing tall/high enough). ⁣

Normative data:

**Please only give this a try if you feel confident in your ability to do so**
